日本アニメを振り返ると、だいたい15歳くらいの少年少女が世界を救ってしまう。一方、ハリウッド映画では世界を救ってきた人は、たいがい30代～40代くらいの白人のオジサンです。そういう人々が毎夏毎夏、世界を救ってるじゃないですか（笑）。で、もし日本人が世界を救うとしたら、どういう人だろう。僕は日本人の40代の男ですが、あまりピンでは世界を救える感じがしないなという自覚があるわけですね（笑）。日本人の場合は、集団なんじゃないか。それが親戚一同だったら面白いなというのが、この映画の着想なんですよね。
